
Church Cook
To ensure the smooth and efficient running of the church’s lunch time provision and the welfare of the users and volunteers involved.
Hours: 8 hours per week on a Tuesday plus a half hour unpaid break – some flexibility possible
Pay: £9 per hour for 45 weeks of the year – paid over 12 months
Holidays: Four days paid holiday
Summary of tasks:
- Menu planning
- Produce shopping list: purchasing & ordering food
- Prepare and cook Lunch Club meal
- Supervise Washing up & Kitchen Cleaning
- Interaction with customers
- Supervision of volunteers
- Food standards paperwork
You will primarily be working with the church lunch club call 'Welcome Centre' which runs every Tuesday 12noon -1:30pm during term time. It provides snacks and lunches at reasonable prices along side a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This is mainly working with older people and seeks to be a place that nurtures friends and tackles isolation and loneliness. It is run by a committed team of people, may who have serve at it for many many years. Relationship building is at the centre of the club so any cook need to be good with people, able to manage volunteers, and be in sympathy with the ethos and values of the church. You will have the benefit of working in our newly refurbished kitchen which is a modern commercial style with modern combi-oven, convection oven, large warmer cabinet and multi gas ring hob.
